The University of Sunderland is a university located in Sunderland in the North East of England.

The University’s modern roots lie in Sunderland Technical College which opened in 1901. The University celebrated a centenary of teacher education in 2008, 150 years of art and design in 2010, and 90 years of pharmacy in Sunderland in 2011, and in 2012 celebrates its 20th year as a university.
