University admissions

OVERVIEW

What this covers

The application itself is the easy part. What decides the outcome is the shortlist: whether the four or five universities on it are the right ones for your grades, your budget and what you actually want to do afterwards.

How we build a shortlist

We start from your transcripts, not from a brochure. Your grades, your English level and what you can realistically afford narrow the field before anyone mentions a university name. From there we usually recommend four applications: one ambitious, two realistic, one safe. Applying to a single university is the most common mistake we see, and it leaves you with nothing if the offer does not come.

The parts students underestimate

Personal statements take longer than anyone expects. Universities read thousands, and the ones that work are specific about why this course at this institution. We draft it with you and edit it hard, but it has to be your experience in your words.

References need chasing. Transcripts need certified translation. Deadlines differ by university and sometimes by programme within the same university. Most applications that fail do so because something arrived late or incomplete, not because the student was not good enough.

What happens after you apply

We track every application and tell you when something moves. When offers arrive we compare them with you properly, including the conditions attached, before you accept anything. A conditional offer with a grade requirement you cannot meet is not an offer.

QUESTIONS

Common questions

How many universities should I apply to?

Usually four: one ambitious, two realistic and one safe. Applying to a single university is the most common mistake we see, because it leaves no option if the offer does not come or the grades fall short.

Can you apply on my behalf, or do I do it myself?

We prepare and submit the applications, and you approve the shortlist and the personal statement before anything is sent. You will see everything that goes out in your name.

Do you write my personal statement for me?

No. We draft it with you and edit it, but it has to be your experience in your words. Universities read thousands of these and a statement that was not written by the applicant is recognisable.
