What you can study abroad with a Tawjihi average of 65 to 75

An average between 65 and 75 is where a lot of families start apologising before we have even looked at the certificate. There is no need. This band opens more than people think. What it needs is a clear plan, because the routes that work here are specific, and the ones that do not work tend to be sold hardest.

What the Ministry’s rules leave open

Measured against the Ministry of Higher Education minimums for study abroad, this is where an average in this band stands:

  • From 60%: every field the Ministry does not list separately. That covers business and management, accounting and finance, economics, media, design, languages, education, and most of the humanities, social sciences and sciences.
  • From 65%: law.
  • From 70%: nursing, the allied medical sciences, rehabilitation sciences, nutrition, food science, cosmetic science and clinical psychology.
  • At 75%: Sharia, and information technology and artificial intelligence majors other than computer engineering.

What stays closed at this level: engineering, architecture, pharmacy and veterinary medicine need 80%, and medicine and dentistry need 90%. A university abroad may well admit you to those programmes. Jordan will not equivalence the degree.

The thresholds are minimums, and they are read literally. An average of 69.8% is below 70%, so a nursing plan built on a result that close to the line needs a fallback chosen in advance.

How universities abroad read a Tawjihi in this band

Requirements vary from one university to the next far more than from one country to the next, so treat these as examples, not rules. Each is taken from the university’s own page for applicants from Jordan, checked on 19 October 2026.

CanadaLaurentian University70 out of 100
CanadaUniversity of Prince Edward IslandMinimum overall mark of 70%, though a higher mark is preferred
United KingdomUniversity of PortsmouthA foundation year from 60%; entry straight to year one at its associated college needs 85%

Private universities in Turkey set their own floors, so check each one. Both Canadian examples start at 70%, but programmes in Canada also look at the subjects you took. In the UK, a Tawjihi certificate on its own does not give direct entry to a bachelor’s degree at most universities. The route is a foundation year, and at this level that is the normal route rather than a consolation prize.

The route families miss: a diploma, then bridging

For a student at 72% who wants engineering, the Ministry’s table looks like a closed door. It is not quite. A student who completes an intermediate university diploma can bridge into a bachelor’s degree, and the Ministry publishes bridging minimums for study abroad as well: a cumulative diploma average of at least 70% for pharmacy, engineering and veterinary medicine, and 68% for other fields.

Two conditions make or break this route. The diploma must be in the matching specialisation, according to the list the Council of Higher Education approves for the year you enrol, and the university you bridge into must be recognised. Get both confirmed in writing before the diploma starts, because a diploma in the wrong specialisation cannot be fixed afterwards.

The mistakes we see most at this level

  • Paying for a programme Jordan will not equivalence because the offer letter looked official. The offer answers the university’s question, not Jordan’s.
  • Choosing an English-taught programme in a country that does not speak English when the programme is open only to international students. The Ministry does not accept these.
  • Treating a foundation year as lost time. For many students in this band it is the year that makes the degree manageable, particularly when English is the weaker subject. If it is, start with our guide to a low IELTS score.
  • Leaving the average question until results day. If the result lands at 69 instead of 71, the backup should already be chosen, calmly, with the deadlines in front of you.

What to do next

Bring us the certificate, or the expected result, and the field you have in mind. We will check it against the Ministry’s table and the specific universities you are looking at, and tell you plainly if a route will not lead where you want it to. Before you travel, read how to attest your certificates.
