About the university

Why students choose University College Cork

A research university in Cork with a large medical school and an international foundation programme for entry.

We place students here through a foundation or pathway year, which suits applicants whose grades or English level do not yet meet direct-entry requirements.

Tuition, entry requirements and intake dates differ by programme and change each year. Ask us for the current figures for the course you are considering rather than relying on published averages.

Entry requirements

Applying from Jordan

School qualifications

UCC considers non-EU applicants whose qualifications are equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate, case by case. Jordan has no country page, so applicants check their programme's minimum subject requirements.

Competitiveness bands

For non-EU entry, UCC places each undergraduate programme in one of 3 bands of competitiveness, published for 2026-2027.

Applying

Non-EU applicants apply directly to the International Office for up to 2 programmes (€50 fee); applications close 31 May, earlier for some competitive programmes.

Medicine and Dentistry

Medicine and Dentistry applications can only go through UCC's designated agents, each with its own closing date. Pharmacy and Applied Psychology include an online interview.

English

Non-native speakers need a recognised English test from one sitting, taken within two years of starting.

Guidance only: meeting a requirement does not guarantee an offer, and each course sets its own grades and English level. Checked October 2026.
